Underwater man Lloyd Godson in Toronto
Lloyd Godson, an Australian researcher spent almost two weeks underwater in a steel box generating electricity by riding on a bike. His air was replenished, in part, by algae dipped in his own urine. Lloyd came to Toronto in the summer to shoot a pilot for a TV show. Part adventure, part street theatre. I took this picture just after he had been asking Ryerson students to give him a urine sample (he pronounced it Huron) and that he would purify it enough to be drinkable. A few students helped out and the experiment was a success until a very drunk street person gave him a sample that appeared to be almost pure alchol. Lloyd ran it through his filters and had the guy drink it ... I think he enjoyed it because, he said, it tasted better the second time through!
